Music Comprehension

At Onomatopoeia, it is essential that the fruits of our labor are shared with the community around us. This helps to sharpen both students and audiences in their engagement with ideas and creates a fun and dynamic learning context. Steuart Pincombe is internationally recognized as a leader in community engagement through innovative concerts, lectures, and discussions. In the Onomatopoeia Music Comprehension events, Steuart will curate a series to benefit the general public and the students of the Onomatopoeia Institute.

Once a month Steuart Pincombe (or a special guest) presents a lecture, performance or master class specifically for members of the public, musicians and non-musicians alike. Presentations will include:

- Violin, viola, cello, and bass Masterclass (masterclass)

- Sound and Gesture (lecture)

- How to listen? (lecture)

- The Bach Reader (performance)

- Approaching the instrument in a healthy manner: string players (interactive class)

- Seeking Silence: Arvo Pärt (lecture)

A schedule of these upcoming events will be posted soon.
